Papal Blessings

Ivanhoe parish Papal Blessings
Friday 28th February 2014

Hand printed on parchment, a Papal Blessing is a special blessing, proper to the liturgy of the Catholic Church, to mark particular significant events, occasions or achievements in peoples's lives. From earliest Christian times the apostles gave blessings upon others in the name of Christ.  Recently, during the holiday period while a number of parishioners were away, three Papal Blessings were bestowed upon some highly valued members of our parish. Firstly to Teresa Bortolin on the great occasion of her 100th birthday (seated above left at Mother of God church with her daughter Lina and, rear, Joan McLachlan and Fr Thang). The second was presented to Joyce (above right at Mother Of God) and John O'Brien on the special occasion of their 60th wedding Anniversary, and the third to Vito and Giovanna Iapozzuto (right, at St Bernadette's with Fr Thang) similarly on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. Again we congratulate all of these parishioners for achieving such milestones and assure them of of our prayers and best wishes †

Welcome
