News From Your Parish Pastoral Council [from meeting on 16 March 2022]
Redevelopment Project: With the delivery of all roofing materials progress is picking up pace and there is renewed confidence that the worst of the delays caused by Covid are behind us. The revised estimated completion date is now August 2022.
Sale of Presbytery: Because the buyer has reneged on the agreement for a lease back arrangement the presbytery family have had to move into a temporary rental in Banksia St. until the new Parish Centre and Presbytery are completed.
The end of one era and new beginnings: Once we have a confirmed date on which we can take possession of the completed new Parish Centre at Mary Immaculate (hopefully sometime in September) we will celebrate a final Mass at Mother of God and then, on the following weekend, our first Mass at the new Parish Centre. We are also planning an Open Day for the wider community to share in guided tours and hospitality.
The formal blessing of the Parish Centre and Rededication of Mary Immaculate Church will not take place until December 8th, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, when the Archbishop will be with us for the celebrations beginning with Mass at 7.00pm.
Parishioners are invited to advise the parish office of any people, outside of the parish family, who should be invited to any or all of the above events. Names and contact details (preferably email addresses) should be provided.
It is hoped that for the Open Day we will have a display of our parish groups, ministries and activities. Over the next couple of months parishioners are encouraged to get out their cameras and take photos of any parish group or activity that will help us communicate the life of the parish to the wider community on our Open Day. Please email your photos to the parish office with a description
